We are the largest Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) chapter serving South/Central Palm Beach County.
We are a non-profit; non-sectarian organization whose primary objective is
to educate as many people suffering from loss of hearing, no matter how slight,
that there is help; that there are ways to improve what and how they hear,
thereby improving their quality of life. To that end:
1. We conduct public seminars to educate people who are deaf and hard of hearing that there is help. Thes seminars are held in Public Libraries, as programs for Special interest Groups, Gated Community Association meetings, and more.
We have created PowrPoint presentations on the following important and timely subjects:
2. At monthly meetings, we provide programs that illustrate
the advances available from today’s medical and audiological
communities, as well as the many assistive hearing devices to improve
hearing in a variety of difficult-to-hear situations.
3. We are the single source in our demographic area for ALL the information
related to hearing loss and how to combat it.
4. We have initiated programs to educate law enforcement,
emergency responders and hospitals how to communicate with deaf and
hard of hearing people.
5. We welcome anyone who has a hearing problem or has a spouse,
relative or friend who suffers hearing impairment.
We meet the third Friday of each month, September through May, 10 am to noon,
at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Road, in Delray Beach.
